<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MOGA: The Moga police have arrested three army men for alleged smuggling of liquor from Rajasthan to Punjab on Wednesday. <br /><br />The accused were selling the liquor to roadside <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">dhaba </span>owners at subsidised rates and using the army vehicles for transportation of the smuggled liquor.<br /><br />The Bagha Purana police of Moga district have recovered 120 bottles of liquor, packed in 10 boxes, from the army vehicle.
The police have arrested also the owner of <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">dhaba </span>and recovered 16 more liquor bottles. <br /><br />It is believed that these were supplied by the accused to the <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">dhaba </span>owner earlier.<br /><br />According to police sources, the accused-Naik Jaswinder Singh, Sepoy Varinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh have posting in Jalandhar Cantonment. They were reportedly on an official job to Rajasthan and carrying the liquor from Rajasthan on their return.<br /><br />Following a tip-off, a police party raided Fauji-Dhaba, situated at Bagha Purana on Wednesday and during inspection of an army vehicle parked there, recovered the liquor.<br /><br /></div> </div><div class="section2"><div class="Normal"><br />The police believe that the accused were doing the business for the last many months and supplying the liquor to many other <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">dhaba</span>s on the way to Rajasthan and Jalandhar. <br /><br />The army authorities have already been informed about the arrest of the jawans and necessary interrogation would be made in the presence of authorities, said police sources. <br /><br />Meanwhile, a case under Excise Act has been registered against the accused.<br /><br />It is second incident of army men involved in nefarious activities in this area. Last week the Faridkot police have arrested an army Sepoy who was involved in chain snatching and vehicle lifting cases at Kot Kapura town. <br /></div> </div>
